Review Tesla Model S

Although the iconic (after all, the Tesla Model S has well earned this title) electric car often receives technical improvements, and software updates are often and regularly, the car has not yet undergone any changes in its appearance. But these changes in the details of the appearance of something more significant than the facelift, it is difficult to call.

Instead of a black plug of a decent size in the place where cars with internal combustion engines have a radiator grille, the Model S received a neat black T-shaped insert with the company logo inside. Such changes "adjusted" the appearance of the car to the "electric brothers" Model X and Model 3. The list of innovations also includes "light": instead of bi-xenon headlights, now LED optics. Inside, everything is even simpler: the interior has received new finishing materials, and the interior air filter, which migrated from the Model X, now differs in size from the standard ones by an order of magnitude. Technical innovations are even more stingy: Like the crossover charger, the maximum current of the standard Model S charger has increased from 40 Amps to 48 amps.

The electric car is offered in three trim levels: 75D, 100D, P100D. Now each Model S is equipped with two electric motors and, accordingly, all-wheel drive (as indicated by the prefix " D " to the version index). The difference is in the battery capacity (75 kW / h or 100 kW / h) and in the performance of the rear electric motor (100D or P100D). According to the manufacturer's stated indicators, the "basic" version of the electric car will be able to travel 259 miles (about 416 km, EPA) on a single charge and reach a maximum speed of 140 mph (about 225 km/h).

And the first hundred will be exchanged by the car for 4.2 s. More power-armed versions differ in power reserve and acceleration dynamics: if the claimed mileage of the 100D on a single charge is 335 miles (about 539 km), then the acceleration of the P100D to the first hundred in the "Ludicrous" mode is 2.5 seconds!

Nothing has changed in the interior of the car: the 17-inch vertical touch screen is still out of competition, and its merit is the minimalist design of the front panel. As before, the driving characteristics are adjusted by selecting the appropriate tabs in the interactive menu, and the indicators are also displayed on the virtual dashboard.

Already in the basic configuration, the car has an air suspension, which is tied to the navigation system and can automatically raise and lower the car, depending on the quality of the road surface.
